Young perspectives on personal gadget

For today’s urban youth, personal gadgets are like invisible technological organ. New Age Youth asks students about their experience with personal gadgets — iphone, androids, ipod, tab, kindle.

Tell us, how your life has changed, impacted or influenced by these technologies?

My gadgets are blessings to me

Sabree Saberin Ava

Sabree-Ava_youth-voiceIt is impossible to led life without my Android ‘Symphony Xplorar P6’ and tab ‘Sumsung Galaxy S3.’ I start my morning by checking emails, facebook messages and notifications. I use my tab for reading newspaper, books and for playing games. I do online shopping through pages and selling groups. I also order yummy foods through ‘Food Panda’ with the help of my Android. My gadgets are blessings to me. I can communicate with my relatives who are far away from me through Skype, Viber, Imo and whatsup. I remain tension free if I accidentally miss any class because my friends send me the pictures of lecture sheets through email or group chat. I also post photos on Instagram. My life has become easier because of the blessing of my personal gadgets.

Technology is like a coin with two sides

Raima Jahan

RaimaIn the present globalised world, we are living in the era of advanced technology. Every part of our daily life is related to technology in one or other way. There are so many advantages with improved technology in our daily life. With the help of mobile technology we are able to talk to our friends and relatives who are living far from us. With the help of internet, we are able to learn new things and online courses etc. with iPod, tab, we can do many things like reading pdf, watching movies, listening to songs and so on. Kindle is one of my favorite technologies because I am a book lover; I can read pdf anytime, anywhere. Technology changes our life and makes it easier. On the other hand, there are so many negative impacts in these technologies. Instead of taking care personally we are sending sms or giving a call on important occasions which were earlier attended personally. Children are getting addicted to online games, facebooking. Using this technologies effect our eye and brain function. Technology is like a coin which has both positive and negative sides. We are the deciders and we have to choose how to use it.

Are technologies controlling us?

Abdus Sami
Bangladesh university of Professionals

Abdus-SamiWe simply use technology for our betterment, for a better life. But today, these technologies are controlling us. We are saturate by these technologies. I am also not out of it. Once I used to read a lot of books or magazines in my leisure times. Even before the exam night or during the time of class I used to read books. It was like an addiction. But life has been changed. One day an android came and the rest is the history. Sometimes while using my android, I start to think, what the hell I am doing! Once I used to read books 3-4 hours in a day, but now I read books only 1 or half an hour in a day for reading books and 2-3 hours I use my android! Though most of the times I use it for educational purpose and for reading news from various international sources, but whatever, it took away my valuable times for reading books. Sometimes I feel I am a poor guy that I don’t read books like before.
Prevents environmental pollution too

Adrita Roy
Birshrestha Noor Mohammad Public College

Roy-AdritaI use iPod and Android as my personal gadgets. During ancient times, it was so hard to communicate, to enjoy our culture, to express our feelings, to acquire knowledge. But thanks to all these modern facilities, now-a-days, we have actually been able to lead our life happily and most importantly, easily. We want to communicate with others? There are iPhones and Androids and Tabs. We want to read books at a cheap price? We have Kindle. We want to listen to various music or meet people around the world; these technologies have made it easy. It is also helping us to prevent environment pollution by preventing the production of paper now-a-days. We use paper, surely, but not as much as before. However, it can harm our social life, our everyday life and also our environment and culture.
