DU-1On July 10, teachers and students of mass communication and journalism department of Dhaka University demanded immediate withdrawal of a case filed against journalist Najmul Hossain under section 57 of the Information and Communications Technology Act 2006.  From a human chain formed in front of Aparajeyo Bangla on the campus, they also demanded immediate repeal of the Section 57 from the 2006 act to ensure freedom of expression.



BUPOn July 10, the literature and debate club of Bangladesh University of Professionals achieved the runner up position in debate an international debate competition organised by the British Council, Nepal and Zavier Academy, Nepal. The topic of the debate was, ‘This house, as a developing nation, would prefer a prosperous autocracy over fragile democracy.’



UlabOn July 10, the Center for Enterprise and Society at the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh organised the launching of the research report for the Undergraduate Academic Experience Survey 2016-17. The chief guest of the event was the chairman of the University Grants Commission, professor Abdul Mannan. The event also had a high-level panel of professor Omar Rahman, vice-chancellor, Independent University Bangladesh, professor Jamilur Reza Chowdhury, vice-chancellor, Asia Pacific University.

DU2On July 11, four members student group of Dhaka University have left Dhaka for South Korea to attend the Youth Camp for Asia’s Future 2017.  A day before their departure, the team met with the vice-chancellor of the university, professor A M S Arefin Siddik in his office.



EUOn July 12, faculty of business administration of Eastern University organised a launching ceremony of Teaching Assistantship Program at the Seminar Hall of the EU. Former Chairman of the board of trustees, Md Azizul Islam inaugurated the ceremony in presence of engineer Mesbah Uddin Ahmed; the current vice-chancellor of the university and the board of trustee were also present at the event.



Kabitar-KhokeKabitar Khoje — in a formal event with young poet has announced a call for young aspiring poets to submit their poetry. Selected poems will be published in journals and anthologies, and the selected poets will be awarded with crest, honorary certificates.



IUBThe Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs baccalaureate/graduate degree board of commissioners has awarded Independent University, Bangladesh the accreditation of its business programs. Established in 1988, ACBSP is the only organization offering specialised business accreditation for all degree levels, from associate to baccalaureate to doctoral degree programs throughout the world.
