NSU organises investment and portfolio management competition

NSU Finance Club recently held ‘IPDC Presents – Optimity’, an investment and portfolio management competition in Bangladesh, designed for the undergraduate students of our country. The competition is organised by NSU Finance Club.  It was an Inter-University competition. Many Universities including Dhaka University, North South University, Bangladesh Professional University took part in the competition.
Capital market is one of the most easily accessible markets for investments for the public. The capital market in Bangladesh is still in its developing phase, gradually ascending with a rising number of banks, financial institutions, and capital market securities. For a thriving economy, it is highly imperative for the finance and capital sector of a country to expand by providing more access to financial products and instruments for the public. Thus, there is a growing need for mutual fund managers and other portfolio managers to satisfy the needs of the investors which call for undergraduate business students to have sound knowledge of investment in capital market. Having the need to create future investment managers in mind, NSU Finance Club arranged the competition – ‘IPDC Presents – Optimity.’
The competition has connected students from all over the nation and brought them under one platform. 138 teams registered hailing from 12 different universities from all over Bangladesh to compete in the nation’s biggest investment and portfolio competition!
In the initial round, 12 teams got promoted to round 2 from 138 teams!
In the second round, 12 teams have been divided into 4 groups. Each team has worked with different industries which are insurance, power, cement etc. The presentation took place on 11 August and the final presentation date will be announced soon.

On August 11, Chemlube Limited and HB Corporation jointly organised a get-together and an interesting game show for the Bikers titled ‘No helmet no respect’ at Arabian BBQ adjacent Balu Bridge near Purbachal 300 ft Express Highway, Dhaka. Near about 350 bikers divided into 14 groups participated in the game show.



On August 10, to increase the use of e-resources of the UGC Digital Library, the University Grants Commission of Bangladesh arranged an awareness programme in the auditorium of ULAB. Professor Md Akhtar Hossain, UGC Member and Dr Gaurang Chandra Mohanta, additional secretary and project director, HEQEP, attended the ceremony as the chief guest and the special guest.
