GAME REVIEW Clash Royale – The next Clash of Clans !! By Nasif Tanjim

There has always been a gap between demand and supply for quality multiplayer games on the smartphone platform. And as the Clash of Clans hype is slowly dying down other games are vying for its place. Guess what? Another game from the brains who are behind this massively popular game might claim its throne. This offering from ‘Supercell’ is called ‘Clash Royale’.

This one is a dueling game where you collect cards and then use them in battle. You can create decks, earn new cards, and then square off in one-on-one duels with online opponents. You can also form clans with other players (Déjà vu!), share cards and more. You’ll have a variety of chances to unlock new cards and take part in private duels. It’s certainly one of the most addictive games around once you get the hang of it. Supercell’s biggest hit Clash of Clans has been downloaded 100 to 500 million times on the Google Play Store. So it’s fair to say that they know a thing or two about making addictive games. The game is well optimised across all platforms so it runs well, gets frequent content updates, and the in-app purchases aren’t that bad either but there’s tons of fun to be had while playing it without spending a dime.

Clash Royale is a tad different from games we are used to playing. This online multi-player game features live matches and there is almost always someone to play with. After accepting a match, you can actively battle. Each player will have two towers and a castle to defend. The goal is to protect your buildings by deploying troops, while trying to also get your army to destroy enemy structures. By the way, destroying the castle makes you an automatic winner. You’ll earn trophies when you win. Similarly, you’ll lose trophies when you are defeated. The game mechanics are a little more intricate. Users can also customise their decks and effectively choose their fighting styles.

In my experience you’ll need to think fast and come up with genuine strategies in order to win, so you’ll be bound to keep tuning your decks by adding new cards. In-app purchases as usual are tempting and makes your progress through the leaderboard smoother. Learning different battle tactics by watching the best duels on TV Royale might help.

Conclusively, those of you who are looking for a fun and addictive multiplayer card game to pass the time should definitely try this game.
