APP REVIEW Backdrops: the wallpaper app for you by Nasif Tanjim

Wallpaper apps are dime a dozen but the ones with a decent collection and a sleek easy-to-use interface are hard to come by. This is where ‘Backdrops’ come in.

Backdrops offers plenty of wallpapers made in-house by the Backdrops team, as well as additional ones from the ever increasing user community. Users can upload wallpapers themselves to be approved by the Backdrops team and the selected ones are featured and made available for others to use. Backdrops updates their collection of wallpapers every single day.

After loading up the app users are welcomed by the easy-to-navigate user interface which is developed with material design in mind. The app is navigable with four sections located at the top. The first section is named Community, which offers a collection of third-party wallpapers uploaded by the users themselves. I was satisfied the quality of wallpapers on offer.

Then comes the Explore tab which features the ‘Wall of the Day’ day section which contains exclusive wallpapers crafted in-house by the developers themselves.

The next tab called ‘Collections’ houses similarly themed wallpapers in packs. These wallpapers are also created in-house. Packs have themes ranging from Earth to Trinity- a triangle themed pack for the diehard Pink Floyd fans and geometry lovers.

The final tab brings the user to his/her favourites, users can tap the heart on the bottom right of the image to save to the user’s favorite collection. The app gives one the option to use Muzei app to cycle ones favorites on one’s home screen intermittently.

After using the app for a while and comprehensively checking out their collection to my utter delight I found plenty of wallpapers I liked, moreover you will glad to know that all of the wallpapers were offered in very high resolutions and should be able to take advantage of the sharpest of smartphone screens. Though the app primarily focuses on material design wallpapers it is safe to say, there is a wallpaper for everyone here. There’s a wide variety of pictures ranging from abstract minimalist ones to lavish landscapes. It has been my source of wallpapers for some time now.

The app is free to download so in order to sustain itself financially the app features ads. You can get rid of the ads if you go pro for BDT 150 and this unlocks extra features, including a completely ad-free experience. This also unlocks the pro pack which is a collection of exclusive backgrounds that they promise to continuously update with new designs. Accesses to future pro features are also covered.

Backdrops is everything a modern wallpaper app should be, from a sleek interface to a plethora of beautiful content. And for these reasons precisely Backdrops has been my favorite source of wallpapers for quite a while now. I highly recommend this app to you.
