Mathmematics Olympiad-2017




On Saturday, Novenber 11, Academia, the prominent English Medium School of Dhaka has arranged the Mathematics Olympiad-2017 at their Lalmatia premises.

Over 1500 English Medium students have taken part in the 6th Mathematics Olympiad. Thei morning started off with the math exams. After that, they have presented their different projects to the audience. The day ended by giving prizes to the winners. Best five scorers in the exam from every class got recognition from the authority and were presented crests.

Bangladesh Mathematics Association’s chairperson professor Sajeda Banu headed the programme. BUET’s EEE department dean professor Muhammad Kaykobad, United International University’s pro vice-chancellor professor Chowdhury Mafizur Rahman and Bangladesh mathematics association’s general secretary professor Shahidul Islam were also present.

Besides text books, the mathematics practice in real life has the potential to boost up the overall economic structure of the country, said the speakers. They also urged to government to increase their budget for mathematics practice.

On Thursday November 16, Poribesh Bachao Andolon and Buriganga Riverkeepers have arranged a workshop in a NAwabganj community centre attended by students from a number of schools to make volunteer army to combat environmental damages.
