On Sunday, December 24, Rajshahi University Chatra Federation arranged a discussion to urge the university authority to create suitable environment in the campus to hold the students’ union election.

Chatra Federation president Tasbirul Islam chaired the discussion session.

Sadakat Hossain, a former university senate student representative, said, ‘RUCSU election has not been in the lights for over 27 years, this is a clear violation of the students’ rights’.

While mentioning the importance of creating a suitable environment for the election he said, ‘From authority to the students, everyone wants RUCSU, then why isn’t it happening?’

Former Dhaka University student leader and DUCSU movement activist Sadik Reza said, ‘University order 1973 clearly mentions that students’ representative presence in the senate is obligatory. So, every single senate in last 27 years is unconstitutional’.

Another student and activist Shakil Hossain said, ‘To boost up the students’ self-respect and sense of judgment, it is their duty to demand the students’ union election’.
